We are seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated Head of Department & Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead practice within the nursery and champion inclusive education.
The Role
This is a dual leadership position combining departmental oversight with responsibility for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
* Lead and support nursery practitioners to deliver outstanding EYFS provision
* Drive high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
* Monitor planning, observations and child progress
* Support staff development and performance management
SENCo Responsibilities
* Lead on SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice
* Identify and assess children with additional needs
* Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / support plans
* Liaise with parents, external agencies and local authorities
* Ensure inclusive practice across the setting
* Maintain accurate SEND records and documentation
What We're Looking For
* Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum)
* SENCo qualification (or willingness to complete)
* Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
* Good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (UK)
* Leadership or supervisory experience in an early years setting
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Passion for inclusion and child development
Desirable:
* Safeguarding training
* Experience working with external professionals (Speech & Language, Educational Psychologists, etc.)
