Overview
Director of Engagement at The Leadership Skills Foundation. We are seeking a Sector Development Lead to drive growth and impact in the primary education sector. This newly created role supports expanding programmes, deepening partnerships, and refreshing the brand. You will lead income generation, customer growth, and influence our approach to meeting the needs of schools, empowering learners, and delighting customers.
As Sector Development Lead, you will design and deliver integrated sales and marketing strategies, deliver outreach and events, and act as a trusted sector voice shaping offers for the primary sector.
Responsibilities
* Planning: Shape and deliver the Primary Sector Development Plan.
* Sales & growth delivery: Drive income and centre growth targets; develop tailored acquisition and conversion strategies by segment; track and report sector income, centre growth, lead conversions, and ROI using dashboards and data analysis.
* Marketing and lead generation: Design and test sector-wide digital campaigns; manage audience segmentation, journeys, email marketing, and paid social campaigns; plan and deliver events; contribute to content strategy (case studies, impact stories, webinars, sector PR/editorial opportunities).
* Customer Experience (CX) & Retention: Lead sector-specific onboarding, retention strategies, and cross-sell pathways; map and review the customer journey; develop CX-led communications plans to ensure high-quality touchpoints.
* Collaboration and innovation: Participate in planning meetings, training, and cross-team initiatives; support induction of new team members; contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused culture and to the Engagement and Marketing Directorate; perform other duties as requested by the Head of Business Development.
Essential
* Proven experience leading sales, sector development, or programme growth.
* Experience designing and delivering multi-channel marketing/outreach plans (digital and in-person).
* Success in achieving income and acquisition targets within a complex stakeholder environment.
* Understanding of UK education systems, particularly the primary sector.
* Ability to work on your own initiative with a proactive approach.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; high level of presentation skills for external stakeholders.
* Experience with data management and analysis to inform decision making.
* Ability to network, influence, and build relationships with key stakeholders and customers; collaborative mindset with cross-team relationship-building.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office to support customer interaction and information presentation; ability to prioritise workload.
Desired
* Experience with campaign management tools and marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager).
* Experience working with or selling into primary schools, MATs, or local authorities.
* Strong understanding of the UK primary education landscape and priorities of MATs, independent schools, and local authorities.
* Understanding of education inspectorate frameworks and awarding body roles.
