Job Description The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organisation maintains the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive HSE policies and procedures, and risk assessments, and promoting a safety-first culture. The HSE Manager will work closely with all departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to drive initiatives that enhance health & safety and sustainability. Key Responsibilities Provides broad HSE direction and subject matter expertise to Navantia UK Belfast business and their programmes Business HSE authority to ensure processes needed for the business are established, implemented and maintained. Develop and maintain HSE procedures and processes that comply with relevant UK legislation and best practices to support NUK business and programmes. Manage Government and Customer matters regarding HSE. Determines operational objectives and assignments for subordinate staff. Develop and implement HSE operational plans to align with business objectives and UK HSE legislation. Establishes mid-term work plans and optimises resources to ensure that work objectives are consistently met. Acts as a manager to subordinate supervisors/managers or staff members to meet objectives, business needs or resolve HSE or operational problems. Ensure the business has trained and competent investigators who can investigate and report on incident in line with NUK procedures. Conduct and lead where required detailed incident investigations to identify the root cause and implement the required actions to eliminate future incidents. Ability to analyse HSE data and trends to identify risks and opportunities and communicate these to stakeholders [at all levels]. Develops relationships with key internal/external clients to identify emerging needs. Anticipate business HSE issues to align operational priorities. Qualifications NEBOSH Diploma or similar Experience in ISO 450001 & 14001 standards, develop with the line a comprehensive audit program to satisfy the requirements of ISO 14001, and 45001. Experience in Net Zero and Carbon Reduction including generating & managing net-zero calculation and plan to Net Zero. In depth knowledge and experience of UK health & Safety regulations and how these are effectively implemented into business processes to ensure business compliance and employee and visitor safety. Previous experience holding a managerial position of an HSE team. 5 years’ experience desirable.
