Project Manager – Housing (Major Works) North East London | £396 a day umbrella | Interim Contract A Local Authority in North East London is seeking an Interim Project Manager to lead on major housing capital investment projects within their Housing Property Services team. The Council has an ambitious programme of works to achieve 100% decency standards by March 2026. Alongside this, they have secured a £5M Warmer Homes Grant and are delivering a rolling programme of FRA remedial works. Role Overview You will manage and oversee major works projects across the housing portfolio, including high-rise residential blocks. A key part of the role will be coordinating multiple workstreams—FRA remediation, warmer homes, and M&E upgrades—into a single Gateway 2 application to the Building Safety Regulator. You will: Lead and manage multi-million-pound capital investment works across multiple sites. Oversee external professional services firms acting as PD, BR, and Contract Administrators. Manage programmes involving specialist contractors, including concrete repairs and structural engineering works. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, quality standards, and procurement processes. Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, to scope, and within budget. Experience & Knowledge Required Proven project/programme management experience in major works housing projects. Strong track record of managing multi-million-pound contracts across multiple locations. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of contract management, compliance, and capital programme delivery. Understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and financial context for local government housing services. Familiarity with ICT systems supporting capital programme management
