Seasonal Warden at the Dorset Heaths Partnership

The Dorset Heaths Partnership is seeking two motivated and personable wardens to support the care and understanding of Dorset’s internationally important heathlands. These landscapes are home to rare wildlife and unique habitats, and the role focuses on helping visitors enjoy them responsibly while fostering appreciation of their special character.
Key responsibilities
Working across heathland sites from Purbeck to Verwood, you will undertake daily site visits, engage with visitors, and offer clear, friendly guidance to help encourage responsible behaviour. You will liaise with land managers and collaborate with colleagues involved in projects such as Dorset Dogs, Firewise and BARI. From time to time, you may also support community events or create content for social media to help share the Partnership’s messages.
This role involves a balance of independent work and teamwork. You will often work alone in varying weather conditions, but with the reassurance of a supportive, multidisciplinary team behind you.
About you
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, confident in speaking with the public, and able to represent the Partnership in a positive and approachable manner. A qualification linked to countryside management is desirable, and familiarity with heathland habitats or species would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will bring a genuine interest in conservation and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with visitors and partners.
