Technology Capacity & Monitoring Manager
Responsibilities
Working as our first Technology Operations Capacity and Monitoring Manager you will be able to create the role as you see fit! You’ll be responsible for the oversight, development, and optimisation of monitoring systems and management tools across the IT estate. You will be ensuring that monitoring, alerting, and capacity management processes are reliable, efficient, and provide actionable insights to support proactive IT operations.
Alongside this, we will want you to drive the implementation of modern monitoring platforms, build reporting frameworks for technical debt and capacity forecasting, and develop AI‑driven operational solutions to improve resilience and service quality.
You’ll oversee the health and performance of our platforms, delivering actionable insights and forecasting to keep operations running smoothly. With a focus on innovation, you’ll design solutions that evolve towards AI‑Ops, enabling smarter, automated issue resolution.
Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with infrastructure, applications, and service teams to ensure data is reliable and impactful. As the subject matter expert, you’ll guide tool selection, set best practices, and advise senior stakeholders on future roadmaps. Leading a dedicated analyst, you’ll champion operational excellence while driving continuous improvement through automation and data‑driven strategies. If you’re passionate about shaping the future of IT operations, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
You’ll be based at our Severn Trent Centre Head Office in Coventry. You’ll work within our IT Operations team, reporting directly to the Head of IT Operations. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, working Monday to Friday.
What we’re looking for
We’ll be looking for you to have proven experience in building, configuring, and rolling out enterprise monitoring platforms and be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with Azure estate, Azure Monitoring, and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
A solid understanding of capacity management, forecasting, and technical debt reporting methodologies will be key to succeed in the role while your experience in delivering monitoring solutions that integrate with IT Operations processes and tooling will enable you to build credibility and integrate yourself into the department. Being able to translate monitoring and capacity data into actionable recommendations for engineers, managers, and senior stakeholders will be a key skill, as will your strong leadership and mentoring skills as you will be both managing and guiding technical staff.
