Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people with substance misuse issues across the country. As a Peer Mentor & Volunteer Team Leader in our Central London Service, you'll make a real difference to the lives of those experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the opportunity and support to enhance your own life and career as you gain the experience and training needed to progress in your career.

Role Responsibilities

As Peer Mentor & Volunteer Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers and peer mentors. This includes developing protocols, implementing supervision structures, designing and delivering training modules, and providing on-the-job support and guidance. You will also monitor volunteer case work and contribute to developing and delivering our Peer Mentoring Programme and service user involvement initiatives.

By working closely with healthcare professionals such as GPs and social services, your dedication will contribute to creating a better future for service users.

The Ideal Candidate

We seek an inspirational leader with experience in recruiting and managing volunteers, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds. Experience in coaching, mentoring, and training others is essential, along with holding a Level 3 AET or equivalent qualification. While experience in a substance misuse setting is preferred, it is not mandatory. The key qualities are a passion for community support and the ability to work to deadlines, achieving results against targets and goals.
