Project Details
As a Senior Consultant specialising in Quantum, you will work in disputes for domestic and international projects. The client offers a variety of advisory and expert services to help their client base understand their true position when it comes to their contract and can support them through dispute proceeding.
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will operate in a team of quantum professionals, often providing support to one or more of the businesses Directors and Experts on one or more assignments.
Your day-to-day role will include:
1. Providing advisory services to client on a variety of contractual and dispute related matters
2. Forensically analysing large quantities of date, dissecting it, presenting it in a clear format or report
3. Supporting a Quantum expert witness with quantum analysis and drafting sections of reports
4. Gathering information relating to disputes
5. Providing strategic advice at all stages of the construction life cycle
6. Experience in developing and pursuing claims up or down the supply-chain
7. Quantum Forensic analysis of tender, contract, and claims documentation
8. Liaising with the client’s management and legal teams
9. Support Junior staff working with you on specific tasks
10. Coach Junior staff face-to-face
Desired Skills and Experience
11. 4+ years experience within a Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management background, preferably Builds experience. Civils experience will also be considered.
12. Experience dealing with a variety of complex projects and contracts.
13. Experience in adjudication from start to finish would be desirable but not essential.
14. Good knowledge of common contracts such as NEC and JCT & FIDIC
15. Knowledge of relevant applications and technologies in the quantity surveying, commercial management industry, for example BCIS, Cost-X, CEMAR.
16. Experience of working with legal professionals. This could either be, inhouse or external law firms or legal teams in the preparation of quantum reports for disputes.
17. Strong report writing skills.
18. Excellent analytical skills, and the ability to forensically review large quantities of data relating to disputes.
19. Strong IT skills. Particularly on MS Excel and MS Word.
20. A clear motivation to have a specialist career in construction disputes
21. Strong client facing skills
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
22. Degree qualified in a relevant construction subject
23. MRICS, MInstCES, CICES or equivalent qualified or working towards Chartership
24. A Master in Construction Law and Disputes would also be advantageous
