SEN Teacher – Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity:
A respected specialist school in Stevenage is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from February 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator dedicated to supporting students with autism, alongside associated needs such as speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and behavioural regulation challenges.
You will be joining a nurturing, well-resourced setting with small class sizes and a strong staff-to-student ratio. The school is proud of its personalised approach to learning, ensuring every pupil is supported to reach their full potential through close collaboration with a skilled, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with complex SEN, particularly autism and related needs.
• Establish structured routines and use visual supports to enhance communication and engagement.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and families to provide coordinated, holistic support.
• Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress in line with EHCP outcomes and individual targets.
• Implement evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, independence, and self-management.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where pupils feel valued and supported.
• Participate in CPD and contribute to the wider school community.
About You:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
• Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally within a specialist or alternative provision.
• Strong understanding of autism and associated developmental needs.
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing teaching approach.
• Confident communicator who works effectively as part of a team.
• Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
