Are you a Civil Engineer with experience in development infrastructure, drainage, highways or external works design looking to join a collaborative and design-led consultancy?
A growing and well-regarded consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer into its Newcastle team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys delivering practical, high-quality civil engineering solutions as part of wider development and placemaking projects.
This role would suit someone with experience across drainage, highways, levels and external works, who is looking to work on a broad range of schemes in a business that values good design, technical quality and close collaboration across disciplines.
The Opportunity
You'll be joining a consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering thoughtful and well-coordinated projects, where civil engineering plays a key role in shaping successful developments.
Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of development infrastructure packages across a variety of projects, from early feasibility and planning support through to detailed design and technical delivery.
Projects are likely to include:
Residential developments
Commercial and mixed-use schemes
Urban regeneration projects
Public realm and external works packages
Education and community developments
Site infrastructure and access arrangements
Sustainable drainage and levels strategies

The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you'll support the delivery of civil infrastructure design across a range of development-led projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Designing and coordinating drainage, highways and development infrastructure packages
Preparing surface water and foul drainage designs, including SuDS strategies
Supporting the design of site levels, earthworks and external works
Assisting with access roads, adoptable highways and private road layouts
Producing and reviewing technical drawings, calculations and reports
Working with architects, planners and other consultants to coordinate designs
Supporting planning, technical approvals and detailed design stages
Liaising with local authorities, utility providers and external stakeholders where required
Contributing to the delivery of practical and buildable engineering solutions
What We're Looking For
To be considered, you should have:
Experience in civil engineering design, ideally within development infrastructure / civils
A background in drainage, highways, levels or external works design
Experience working on UK development projects
Good understanding of relevant approvals and design standards
Experience using software such as:
Civil 3D
MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
Causeway Flow / PDS
Ability to produce clear technical drawings and supporting calculations
A BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
