Responsibilities
* Undertake clinically oriented research (with the ambition of pursuing an MD or PhD) while continuing obstetrics and gynaecology training, including on-call duties at Princess Anne Hospital.
* Collaborate with divisions: Division C of UHS R&D and the Developmental Physiology & Medicine group at the University of Southampton to support translational clinical studies in pregnancy, maternal-fetal physiology, and related themes.
* Contribute to ongoing research programs and participate in related academic activities as part of the team at Princess Anne Hospital and University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
About the role and setting
Princess Anne Hospital provides a wide spectrum of women's services and works alongside Southampton General Hospital to offer local secondary services and tertiary-level expertise across the Wessex region. The role sits within the UHS R&D structure under Prof. Ying Cheong.
Essential qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Currently in training and hold a training number
* Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement
* Evidence of research experience as an undergraduate and as a resident doctor
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Further higher degree
* MRCOG or equivalent
* Experience in delivering formal undergraduate and/or postgraduate education
* Evidence of research and publications
Aptitudes and skills
* Ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
* Understanding of equality and diversity in patient care
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
* Good presentation and communication skills
* Contribute to on-call rota for resident doctors
