Credit Controller
Location: Northampton (Hybrid/Office-based, 2 days WFH)
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week (early finish on Fridays)
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Controller to join very supportive culture, including a 12pm finish on Fridays (working from home), as well as another work-from-home day during the week (either Monday or Wednesday) The wider team also reflects strong retention and a very positive working environment.
This role is responsible for the effective management of the sales ledger, ensuring timely cash collection, minimising credit risk, and maintaining accurate customer account records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the sales ledger
2. Proactively manage aged receivables, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt
3. Identify and escalate potential credit risks or non-payment issues
4. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to the sales ledger
5. Support internal and group reporting requirements
6. Assist with audit, statutory accounts, tax, and compliance processes where required
7. Handle and resolve customer account queries in a timely manner
8. Accurately allocate incoming payments to invoices and credit notes
9. Contribute to process improvements and support ad hoc finance projects
Your Profile
10. Previous experience within a credit control or sales ledger environment
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
12. Highly organised with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
13. Proactive and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset
14. Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
15. Experience using accounting/ERP systems (such as Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite)
16. Experience working to strict month-end deadlines
17. AAT Level 2/3 (or working towards) or equivalent experience
18. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is advantageous (training provided)
