Assystem Energy & Infrastructure is recruiting for a Head of Commercial to work at our customer's site in Derby on a contract basis.
As the Head of Commercial, you will report to the Chief Commercial Officer with functional responsibility to the Director of Commercial and Strategy. You will play an integral role in devising, delivering, and implementing practical solutions to customer-oriented requirements with an appropriate balance of risk and reward. You will work with other members of the senior management team, with a PM/Engineering bias, to help convert ideas into practical reality and guide the team from a business/commercial perspective. You will oversee commercial activities from bidding through to contract management and closure, working closely with campaign managers pursuing new opportunities. This is a customer-facing role requiring good political and diplomatic skills. You will collaborate with Strategy, Customer Management, Business Development, and Estimating functions.

Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
* Support the delivery of the Commercial Strategy and provide strategic leadership to Commercial Managers and teams, as well as the wider business.
* Represent Commercial on key issues and initiatives, interfacing with senior functions.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Commercial function.
* Develop and maintain a team aligned with business needs.
* Manage multi-disciplinary teams to ensure delivery in line with company standards, including setting objectives.
* Ensure compliance with approval, commercial, and corporate processes.
* Develop and share commercial best practices and embed them into local procedures.
* Coach and mentor team members.
* Build strategic relationships to maximize profitability and meet customer/business needs.
* Produce innovative solutions to secure profitable and strategic new business.
* Identify risks in tenders and contracts, propose amendments, and negotiate to mitigate risks.
* Manage significant claims, disputes, and litigation to minimize costs and risks.
* Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes.
Additional Information
Security clearance: This role requires a minimum of Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats. Candidates must be UK nationals or in MoD-approved cases, a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
