About The Role
* Ensure that the statutory and operational requirements for safe, competent drivers are met.
* Assess driving standards and provide appropriate feedback to develop driver skills throughout the Group.
* Enhance understanding by providing support and guidance on driver behaviour and facilitate interventions where required.
* Deliver a professional training programme aligned with regulatory requirements, such as Driver Certificate of Competence (DCPC).
* The Driver Compliance Trainer and Assessor must be sufficiently qualified.
Roles And Responsibilities
* Assess new drivers during induction training.
* Conduct driver assessment training for new and agency drivers.
* Write reports on driver performance with recommendations for improvement.
* Maintain a continuous driver development plan for each driver.
* Deliver driver CPC training across the UK group.
* Assist in the development and implementation of driver risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Manage the driver’s handbook, updating it in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies.
* Monitor the LMS learning management system.
* Support fleet compliance with accident or incident investigations.
* Monitor vehicle incidents and provide support and recommendations.
* Develop incident alerts and toolbox talks for drivers.
* Conduct annual driver training assessments and report writing.
* Improve SAFED driver training and driving techniques.
* Identify and facilitate additional training needs, such as Operator Licence Awareness.
* Provide monthly training and incident statistics to the fleet compliance manager.
Qualifications And Experience
* DVSA LGV Instructor (or on the LGV register) – essential.
* Training qualification or proven classroom trainer experience – essential.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office – essential.
* Road transport managers certificate of professional competence – desirable.
* DVSA ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) – desirable.
* DVSA Fleet driver trainer – desirable.
* Train the trainer experience (e.g., PTTLS) – desirable.
* H&S qualification (e.g., IOSH working safely) – desirable.
