Preterm Birth Lead Midwife
The closing date is 19 May 2026
We are looking to recruit an experienced midwife to join our Trust as the Lead Preterm Birth Midwife. This post will be hosted by ESNEFT but the postholder will require working across Colchester, Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals. The aim is to ensure aligned standards of care and consistent outcomes for all pregnant people and babies across both Trusts.
You will have a key role working within the Preterm Birth Prevention (PTBP) teams across both trusts promoting and maintaining the services in line with national recommendations. You will educate teams in evidence‑based and holistic care to meet the woman/birthing person's individual needs, recruit champion midwives across both trusts to support women/birthing people through their pathway and oversee quality improvement projects. The midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice.
If you have a passion for improving the outcomes for women/birthing people and have experience in this field, we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist midwifery care, advice and support to women and birthing people at risk of preterm birth.
* Work collaboratively with obstetric, neonatal and wider MDT colleagues to deliver coordinated, evidence‑based care.
* Contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of preterm birth prevention clinics across all sites.
* Support informed decision‑making by providing clear, evidence‑based information to women, birthing people and their families.
* Act as an advocate for women and birthing people, ensuring personalised and compassionate care.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional and Trust standards.
