Software Engineering Manager – Remote (Scotland) or Hybrid (Aberdeen)

£70,000 – £75,000 DOE
Our client, a leading provider of specialist software solutions, is seeking a talented
Development Manager

You'll be part of the senior leadership team, driving technical excellence and team performance while aligning development outcomes with strategic business goals. Key Responsibilities
* Technical Leadership:
Deliver scalable, maintainable software solutions aligned with business objectives and timelines.
* Engineering Excellence:
Embed best practices across code standards, CI/CD, DevOps, and automation.
* Product Collaboration:
Work closely with Product, QA, and Customer teams to translate business needs into development initiatives.
* Resource Planning:
Allocate resources across workstreams, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement.
* Lifecycle Ownership:
Manage the full software development lifecycle in agile and hybrid environments.
* Team Development:
Mentor and grow a high-performing development team through coaching, career pathways, and recruitment.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Align development with broader business goals across support and services teams.
* Financial Oversight:
Track development costs, support forecasting, and ensure accurate billing and configuration tracking.
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years in a Development Manager or similar leadership role.
* Degree in Computing Science or related field (2:1 or above).
* Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum/Kanban and CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience with cloud services, deployment architectures, and performance optimisation.
* Familiarity with containerisation, version control, and automated testing.
* Awareness of software security and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR).
* Product-focused mindset with experience in roadmap planning and backlog management.
* Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop technical teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
