Your Role...
Supporting the Development team, which provides transport planning, civil infrastructure, and urban design services on development and masterplanning projects, you will play a key role in our growth in Leeds and nationally. We seek a Technical Director/Director with a background in development transport planning, well-connected within the local and regional markets, focusing on client engagement, business development, market strategy, and technical leadership. You will also support our initiative to diversify our team in terms of staff and revenue.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in winning and delivering projects within a multidisciplinary consultancy, with experience across public and private sectors. Sector specialization is a plus but not essential. You should be skilled in managing large tender proposals and identifying new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients, as well as internal sector leads and colleagues across WSP.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging your network to increase market share.
* Collaborate with regional and local leadership to set and meet growth targets.
* Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, including local planning authorities.
* Provide technical advice and support clients through planning and design processes.
* Demonstrate behaviors aligned with WSP’s core values.
* Coordinate with colleagues to share market intelligence, best practices, and innovations.
* Lead and support bid submissions, ensuring technical and commercial value.
* Act as Project Director for major and strategic projects.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and promote corporate responsibility.
Candidate Profile
* Degree in transport planning or civil engineering.
* Chartered status.
* Proven business development and strategic capabilities.
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills.
* Experience in project delivery and work-winning.
* Relevant project experience across sectors.
