My client, a well-known Tier 1 Main Contractor, is looking for candidates with experience in bid management within the civil engineering infrastructure sector. The successful candidate can work from their head office in Swindon or their London office in Paddington.
Purpose of the Role
As part of the Submissions Team, the primary function of the Bid Writer will be to lead the development and production of winning PQQ and Tender responses. The candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of how to formulate technical responses that meet or exceed the client's requirements and communicate this effectively both in written and visual formats.
Role Accountabilities
1. Produce written responses for PQQs and Tenders, including unique responses, references, case studies, CVs (in liaison with Bid Coordinators), and project experience.
2. Support the Head of Submissions and Bid Managers in preparing PQQ and Tender responses and related components, ensuring compliance with Work Winning processes and procedures.
3. Assist with briefings, kick-off meetings, and progress meetings.
4. Ensure all tender documentation is of a high standard, editing and proofreading submissions, and supporting the production and finalisation of documents when required.
5. Facilitate storyboarding sessions with subject matter experts and oversee their completion.
6. Prepare graphics such as flow charts, diagrams, and organisation charts to support high-standard submissions.
7. Assist contributors with content development and responses, assessing whether questions are answered adequately (including first drafts and red review processes) in liaison with Bid Coordinators.
8. Provide feedback on response progress to the Head of Submissions, Bid Managers, and Bid Coordinators.
9. Create the final bid publication and ensure timely delivery to the client.
10. Maintain Themis (Document Management System) to keep a complete record of submissions for future review or scrutiny.
11. Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant.
12. Assist with Knowledge Management within the company using Themis.
13. Work effectively under demanding and changing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
Required Project Knowledge
An understanding of the scope and status of projects is essential for the Bid Writer. This knowledge helps in focusing responses on relevant projects and knowing who to contact on-site for further information if needed.
