The Role
Are you a highly motivated and creative individual with a demonstrable passion for positively impacting the lives of young people? Do you possess strong organisational and programme development skills? If so, YMCA and RAF Leeming have an exciting opportunity for you to join our collaborative team.
We are seeking a dedicated Activity Coordinator to play a key role in the design and delivery of engaging and impactful programmes for the youth community at RAF Leeming. Working in partnership with RAF Leeming’s Community Development Officer and the experienced YMCA Airplay team, you will be instrumental in the successful implementation of the established BEN Club and Airplay support programmes. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of young people within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Who Are We Looking For
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Station Youth Worker!
You’ll Need
1. Qualifications: Level 3 Play/Youth Work qualification (or willingness to obtain) and Level 3 Safeguarding.
2. Experience: Significant experience working with children and young people, and managing play/youth work projects.
3. Skills:
* Strong understanding of youth development and military family issues.
* Ability to empower young people and facilitate their voice.
* Excellent safeguarding knowledge.
* Proven leadership and team management skills.
* Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
* Ability to plan, evaluate, and prioritize effectively.
* Understanding of GDPR and confidentiality.
* Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Skills
You’ll design and deliver exciting, engaging programmes (BEN Club & Airplay) tailored to RAF children and young people (ages 5-18), fostering their skills and personal development. This role involves:
1. Creating innovative activities: Plan and lead dynamic programmes, ensuring they meet the needs of the community.
2. Empowering youth: Encourage participation and involve young people in decision-making.
3. Team leadership: Manage sessional staff, providing training and support.
4. Partnership working: Collaborate with the RAF Station, YMCA, and other key stakeholders.
5. Safety & Compliance: Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards.
6. Programme Development & Evaluation: Plan, develop and evaluate programmes based on feedback.
7. Reporting & Accreditation: Monitor progress and provide opportunities for accreditation.
8. Communication & Collaboration: Maintain effective working relationships.
