Role Details:
Position: Finance Operations Lead
Location: Remote working, with occasional in-person meetings
Contract: 35 hours per week
Salary: £37,000
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a charity dedicated to supporting older people by preventing and alleviating loneliness in later life.
The Finance Operations Lead will oversee tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking processes within the Finance department. This role is suited for someone with demonstrable experience in managing a busy finance operations team.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the Finance Officers to ensure timely processing and payment of purchase ledger invoices and tenant refunds.
2. Ensure invoices are scanned and processed within the prescribed timescales.
3. Review monthly supplier statements and follow up on any discrepancies.
4. Escalate issues related to purchase ledger or suppliers to the Finance Manager weekly.
5. Manage the purchase ledger module within our housing system, including supplier account setup.
6. Prepare, review, and transmit supplier payment runs according to payment schedules.
7. Complete month-end procedures and ensure timely closing of the AP system.
8. Monitor purchase ledger mailboxes and resolve queries promptly.
9. Ensure refunds to tenants and authorities are authorized, paid, and correctly coded.
10. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
11. Generate and analyze purchase ledger aging and payment reports.
12. Oversee banking, accounts receivable, and rent ledger activities, reporting progress and challenges weekly.
About You:
Skills and Experience:
1. Experience as a Finance Operations Lead or similar supervisory finance role.
2. Strong understanding of finance operations principles.
3. Proven process management and record-keeping skills within deadlines.
4. Excellent customer service skills.
5. Hands-on experience with leadership qualities.
6. High accuracy and attention to detail.
Essential Criteria:
1. Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
2. Leadership experience in a similar role.
3. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Experience with housing and finance software.
2. Understanding of the not-for-profit or voluntary sector.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
