Social Worker – Kinship and Post Order Support Team
Salary: Up to £41,956 + £3,000 market premia + £2,000 annual retention payment after 2 years’ service

Medway Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Kinship and Post Order Support Team. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality children’s social care, supporting connected carers and children placed in kinship arrangements.
The Role:
You will manage a caseload under appropriate supervision, using evidence-based analytical practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safeguarding measures. You will complete assessments for Special Guardianship, Viability, and Connected Carers, ensuring all reports are submitted to Court or Fostering Panel on time. You will attend relevant panels and forums, maintain accurate records, and coordinate multi-professional meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver social work interventions with children, families, and carers using a strengths-based approach.
Conduct high-quality assessments and develop robust Special Guardianship support plans.
Use the Signs of Safety practice model and Life-Story work to support children in care.
Work with families facing complex challenges including mental ill health, disability, substance misuse, domestic abuse, exploitation, and immigration.
Prepare reports for Looked After Children Reviews, Permanency Planning, and Care Proceedings.
Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and Medway Council procedures.
Participate in reflective supervision and continuous professional development.Person Specification:
Recognised professional Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
HCPC registered
Experience of completing high-quality assessments and reports for connected carers and children in care
Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and practice models
Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
