We are seeking a dedicated EHS Specialist to join our team at the Newcastle Factory’s Controls and Protection Panel Building Facility.
Reporting to the Factory Head, this role is responsible for implementing and maintaining robust environmental, health, and safety programs tailored to the demands of panel assembly and manufacturing. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with UK regulations (including HSE guidelines, COSHH, and PUWER), Siemens Energy standards, and industry best practices, while fostering a proactive safety culture. This position plays a critical role in mitigating risks associated with electrical assembly, heavy machinery operation, and ergonomic challenges within a fast-paced production environment.
An integral part of the role involves supporting the local Digital Grid business in the UK & IE on all EHS-related matters, including auditing project sites, producing project-specific EHS documentation, delivering training, and ensuring the implementation of SE UK EHS guidelines.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Building activities, including electrical wiring, testing, and assembly processes.
2. Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and training programs, covering areas such as LOTO, PPE, and safe handling of electrical components.
3. Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions in line with regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
4. Manage environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, including waste handling and material-related environmental controls.
5. Support safe operations by collaborating with engineering, production, and management teams on facility design, equipment installation, and process improvements, while leading emergency response planning and drills.
6. Track and report key EHS metrics, ensure alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, and engage stakeholders including regulators, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
What You Bring
7. Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous; minimum diploma-level H&S and environmental qualifications required, with electrical safety qualifications preferred.
8. Building environments, with strong knowledge of UK H&S and environmental regulations.
9. Experience using EHS management systems and digital tools for incident reporting, audits, and compliance tracking.
10. solving abilities, including conducting investigations and implementing effective corrective actions.
11. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to train diverse teams and present findings clearly.
