Role Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Fire Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety and Fire Team at Birmingham Airport. This role is central to maintaining and developing the Airport’s Fire Strategy and Fire Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with current legislation and protecting life, property and business operations. You will work closely with the Fire Safety Manager and colleagues across the airport community, including tenants and contractors, to promote best practice and support a strong fire safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a fire safety specialist, providing competent advice and guidance across the airport
2. Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Airport Fire Strategy and Fire Safety Management System
3. Provide assurance and support to colleagues, tenants and contractors to ensure legislative compliance
4. Contribute to strategic safety initiatives and cultural change programmes
5. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage fire risks
6. Support the Health, Safety and Fire Team in delivering a high-quality advisory service
Duties:
7. Deliver practical fire safety advice across a complex and high-risk operational environment
8. Develop, review and maintain fire safety policies, procedures and guidance
9. Lead or support investigations into fire-related incidents and near-misses, sharing lessons learned
10. Undertake fire risk assessments, inspections and audits, including DSEAR assessments
11. Develop and deliver fire safety training to raise awareness and competence
12. Produce reports, action plans and maintain accurate fire safety records, including managing life safety system impairments
