Principal Engineer - Combat Systems (External Communications)
Frimley (Hybrid 2-3 days onsite) 12-month contract | 37 hrs/week £57.00 per hour (PAYE) Dreadnought Programme
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - External Communications to support delivery of external communications systems within the Submarine Combat Systems domain on the Dreadnought Programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead systems engineering activities for maritime external communications systems
* Derive and manage technical and functional requirements from User Needs, CONOPS and CONUSE
* Define system architectures, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
* Provide technical authority, SME input, and guidance across design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning
* Support supplier management, verification, testing, and customer acceptance
* Identify engineering risks, report progress, and support recovery and change activities
Skills & Experience:
* Strong background in maritime defence external communications systems
* Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
* Platform and ideally sea-going experience (build, trials, operations, or in-service support)
* Excellent stakeholder communication skills
* Strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE
