Physiotherapist (Development Role)

You would joinan established, friendly, and supportive community learning disabilitymulti-disciplinary team based in Worcestershire. You would be working across the county tomeet the clinical needs of adults with a learning disability and would be workingin a variety of settings; day centres, supporting living homes, family homes,residential homes to provide patient centred interventions, working closelywith carers and family.
The post holderwill provide assessment, diagnosis and develop bespoke therapy for a caseloadof service users with a learning disability and complex needs, using evidencebased/client centred principles and delivered in accordance with HCPC and CSP.

This is a full time role but we would consider applicants looking for part time hours.
Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to manage a mixed caseload ofpatients with a Learning Disability and a variety of health needs such ascomplex neurological physical disabilities, musculo-skeletal difficulties,frail, elderly and dementia, chronic respiratory conditions, obesity, and thosewith poor physical activity levels.
You will be providing comprehensive assessment, planning,implementation of appropriate interventions and evaluation for adult patientswith a learning disability in order to optimise their physical function. You will be providing safe, effective,interventions.
You will gain invaluable skills and further experience in 24-hourpostural management working with people who have complex physical disabilitieswith a moderate to profound learning disability and in promoting safe mobilityand prevention of falls in those with a learning disability.
Along with the physiotherapy team you will be responsible formanaging and prioritising referrals according to clinical need for LDphysiotherapy across the county and providing supervision to studentphysiotherapists.
You would be working in a variety of settings to provide patientcentred interventions, working closely with carers and family, offering supportand recommendations to prevent complications.

Job responsibilities
The jobwill be a Band 6 community Learning Disability Physiotherapist or a Band 5wanting to develop into a B6 role. working across the county of Worcestershire,covering locations such as: Worcester City, Evesham, Malvern, Droitwich,Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Redditch and Bewdley.
Allwithin the speciality of learning disabilities which covers conditions such as:Cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, dementia, Parkinsons, fragile X syndrome,Williams Syndrome, complex physical disabilities, and learning needs. Jobresponsibilities include:
Managing your own caseload, including complexclients
Prioritise waiting lists with the help of thewider Physiotherapy team
Dynamically risk assessing throughouttreatments
Standing and walking frame prescription, setup and assessment
Liaison with specialist schools and collegefor client transitions to adult services
Working with care staff and day servicemanagers
Stretching and strengthening programmecreation
Administering respiratory care
Diagnosis and information gathering fromminimal patient communication
Working alongside Nurse, Speech and Languagetherapists, Occupational therapists, Clinical Phycologists, GPs and consultants

Experience
* A minimum of 1 years post graduate experience including working in a variety of settings
* Experience of assistants and students
* Experience of delegation to unqualified staff
* Experience within relevant clinical field of learning disabilities e.g. 24-hour postural management, respiratory, degenerative conditions, rebound therapy and hydro/aquatic therapy
* Experience of lone working
Knowledge
* A good knowledge of physiotherapy in relevant areas disabilities, falls prevention
* Awareness of research processes
* Knowledge of IT skills
* Knowledge of postural care
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Evidence of relevant post- graduate) courses / CPD maintained in portfolio
* Relevant validated clinical course
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
