Overview Of The Role
Help shape the future of London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive sustainability professional to support TfL’s ambition to be the strong green heartbeat of the city. As a Sustainability Manager, you’ll play a central role in embedding sustainability across TfL, strengthening environmental governance, and improving how our organisation responds to climate and sustainability challenges. You’ll work with senior leaders, influence strategic decisions, coordinate high profile publications and support continuous improvement across the organisation. This role sits within the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team.
Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50% of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
What You’ll Do
Lead and Influence
* Champion a positive, forward‑thinking sustainability culture.
* Support delivery of the TfL Sustainability Strategy and our corporate environment plan.
* Build strong relationships across TfL and with external partners.
Programme management
* Programme administration – liaising across the organisation; leading administration of the Green Knowledge Programme, including delegate registration, feedback, maintaining accurate and current content, monitoring delivery performance, and working with Learning and Development.
* People leadership – managing and developing a network of ~100 trainers.
* Course delivery – acting as, or training to become, a TfL Green Knowledge Programme trainer and delivering courses throughout the year.
* Reporting and governance – producing weekly, periodic and quarterly reports, and confidently presenting to all levels of the business.
* Evaluation – regularly assessing programme performance, analysing and acting on feedback, and recommending improvements to training and business processes.
Programme development
* Industry knowledge – engaging internal and external audiences to assess needs and consider evolving practices within the organisation and wider industry.
* Business improvements – using insight and experience to support ongoing development of how TfL builds environmental knowledge and capability.
As part of the Sustainability team, the successful candidate will also train as a TfL Green Knowledge Programme trainer and deliver a minimum of five courses per year.
What You’ll Bring
Knowledge
* Understanding of London’s political and governance landscape.
* Awareness of climate change, nature loss and UK decarbonisation challenges.
* Project management qualification or strong equivalent experience.
* Experience working in large, highly scrutinised organisations.

* Proven track record managing and developing people.

* Experience delivering training, workshops or coaching.Strong experience in producing accurate, detailed documentation.
* Delivery of complex projects to high standards.
