Job Summary
Senior Medical Director, Oncology Clinical Development – GU
Reports to the Executive Medical Director, Clinical Development Lead (CDL), Oncology Clinical Development. Responsible for advancing GSK’s clinical portfolio, engaging in medical dialogues with internal leaders, and managing relationships with Key External Experts. Requires experience in developing and executing oncology clinical trials to support regulatory filing and market launch.
NOTE: Requires on-site presence (minimum two days a week) at one of GSK’s sites in Zug, Warsaw, Stevenage, London, PA or MA.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead program and cross‑functional teams to develop and execute phase 1‑3 interventional clinical trials.
* Represent Clinical Development on disease area strategy, integrated evidence, and medical affairs strategy teams.
* Oversee development of high‑quality protocols aligned with the Clinical Development Plan.
* Contribute to end‑to‑end clinical trial activities, ensuring scientific integrity and timely delivery.
* Interpret and summarize study results to define safety, efficacy, PK/PD, and patient‑reported outcomes.
* Assume medical responsibility for trials, including real‑time monitoring of study design and data review.
* Collaborate with pharmacovigilance on safety data monitoring.
* Participate in authoring clinical study reports and regulatory documents.
* Collaborate with Principal Investigators on publication evaluation.
* Network to develop strategic partnerships with thought leaders.
* Contribute to clinical and technical assessment of business development opportunities.
* Understand biological mechanisms, clinical strategy, and scientific literature.
* Represent GSK at medical meetings, advisory boards, and outreach meetings.
* Serve as core member of the Clinical Matrix Team for one or more assets.
* Lead Oncology Clinical Development‑wide initiatives and workstreams.
Basic Qualifications
* Medical degree with advanced specialty training, fellowship, or equivalent in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Urology, or Internal Medicine with GU or oncology experience.
* Experience in the global pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, specifically in GU prostate cancer.
* Experience leading GU oncology drug development, including phase 1, 2 and 3 trial design, initiation, execution, and closure.
* Academic and/or clinical research publication history or medical practice history in GU oncology.
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD in addition to medical degree and advanced specialty training.
* Established relationships with key external experts (KEEs) in medical oncology.
* Experience assessing business development opportunities in oncology.
* Knowledge of worldwide regulatory and safety requirements for drug development.
* Understanding of disease‑specific research priorities and clinical practice trends.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for senior stakeholder engagement.
* Record of quality decision‑making and problem resolution.
* Knowledge of GCP principles and regulatory registration requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
US salaries range from $284,250 to $473,750 annually, depending on location (e.g., Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; San Francisco, CA). The position offers an annual bonus and eligibility for a share‑based long‑term incentive program. Benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave. Salaries for other locations vary by market rate; compensation is discussed during recruitment.
