Your new role
This role would suit an experienced Management Accountant or junior Finance Business Partner, who has experience in financial planning.
1. Act as the primary finance partner for key budget holders, building strong relationships and providing strategic financial insight to support effective decision‑making.
2. Lead the preparation of accurate expenditure budgets and forecasts, including project‑related activity where required.
3. Review and interpret management reports, delivering clear, value‑addingmentary and advising budget holders on how to respond to changing financial performance and prioritise objectives.
4. Monitor financial performance across assigned areas, such as departmental contribution and delivery against operational or project budgets.
5. Ensure inputs into the organisation's strategic plan are robust, realistic, and achievable.
6. Analyse financial and non‑financial trends,paring current performance to previous years and external benchmarks, and rmend actions to address risks or inefficiencies.
7. Assess andmunicate the financial implications of new and existing contracts, ensuringpliance with University policy and alignment with Faculty/Directorate objectives, while continually tracking financial performance.
8. Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and develop business cases to ensure investment proposals are fully costed, understood, and clearlymunicated to senior leadership.
9. Identify opportunities for cost savings or ie generation and escalate rmendations to leaders.
10. Lead post‑investment and project appraisal financial analysis to evaluate oues and return on investment.
11. Liaise with internal and external auditors on relevant projects to support audit requirements.

12. Studying towards or willing to study an agreed accountancy qualification
13. Highly organised and methodical in approach
14. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels
15. Strong numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail, with a habit of checking your own work
16. Clear and confidentmunication skills
17. Able to work independently as well as part of a team
18. Performs well under pressure and adapts quickly to changing priorities.
19. Strong multi‑tasking skills and able to manage your own workload to meet deadlines.
20. Proficient in accounting software and office technology, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
