Job summary
A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Learning Disability Nurse within the Bay Locality Adult Community Learning Disability Team. The post holder will work across our established multi-disciplinary CLDTs and contribute to the core clinical functions of the team as well as the provision of specialised nursing interventions.
The post holder will carry their own caseload as well as complementing existing interventions by the team which support people to stay in their residence/home, stay in good health and avoid unnecessary hospital admission.
The post holder will be a learning disability nurse with knowledge and skills in supporting people with a learning disability who have complex health needs or behaviours that challenge services. Compassion, good communication skills, flexibility and an innovative attitude are essential.
Responsibilities
The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with learning disabilities and their families, we have a strong commitment to public health, safeguarding and effective risk management through service development and training initiatives, working within an enthusiastic and experienced team.
The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload and supervision of other practitioners (registered and unregistered), to provide strong clinical leadership and supervision within the learning disability team.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Registered Learning Disability Nurse with current NMC Registration. 2-3 year' post-registration experience.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of contemporary health learning disability policy.
* Knowledge and skills in the assessment / management of risk.
* Knowledge of legal frameworks applicable to the learning disability population.
Experience
* Ability to support people who have a learning disability and/or Autism on an individual and group basis.
* Working with individuals who challenge.
