We’re looking for a Regional Liaison Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in connecting Wastewater Treatment Operations with Capital Delivery. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design and delivery of major infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet operational needs and deliver long-term value.
Key Purpose
As a Regional Liaison Engineer, you’ll act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of complex, high-value wastewater treatment projects. You’ll ensure that designs are practical, resilient, and aligned with our strategic goals, supporting seamless integration into live operations and long-term asset performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Champion operational requirements from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
2. Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are operable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
3. Provide expert input during detailed design and commissioning phases.
4. Ensure safety-critical processes such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO) are planned and compliant.
5. Collaborate with site teams to support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities.
6. Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are fully prepared and confident.
What We’re Looking For
7. Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
8. Proven experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry.
9. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
10. Ability to interpret technical documentation and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
11. Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover.
12. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering. Or equivalent experience.
13. Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation (desirable).
Additional Requirements
14. Must be able to hit the ground running, with a strategic mindset and a personable, adaptable approach.
15. A full UK driving license is essential, as regular travel to operational sites is required.
16. Participation in a call-out rota may be required.

Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Participation in a call-out rota may be required.
Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between the office location, site, and home.
