Senior Estates Officer (MRICS Chartered Surveyor)
Job description
We are seeking an RICS Chartered Surveyor to play a pivotal role in the management of our diverse property portfolio. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to the economic prosperity of Neath Port Talbot. You will provide valuation and property advice that shapes development and enhances our public assets for the benefit of everyone who lives and works within Neath Port Talbot.

What you will be doing:
As a Senior Estates Officer, you will be a key member of our professional property team, reporting to the Principal Estates Manager. Your responsibilities will be:
1. To assist in the management of a diverse portfolio including commercial, industrial, and residential assets.
2. Identify opportunities for disposals and income generation to support Council services.
3. Undertake a full range of valuation work for rating, insurance and asset valuation purposes.
4. Negotiate and manage high-value property transactions including leases, licences, rent reviews, easements, and wayleaves.
5. Represent the Council in property negotiations with developers, community organisations, and other external stakeholders.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will be:
6. A RICS Chartered Surveyor with a background in General Practice.
7. Experienced in property transactions and negotiations, ideally with an understanding of the public sector landscape.
8. Able to build strong relationships and convey complex information clearly to a variety of audiences.
9. Ready to work proactively within a team of dedicated professionals to achieve shared goals.
10. Proficient with IT, including Microsoft Office suite.
Candidates with an RICS accredited degree and significant, relevant experience who are actively working towards their APC may also be considered.
Office working hours are 8.30 am - 5.00 pm Monday-Thursday and 8.30 am - 4.30 pm on Friday; however, the Council operates a flexi-time system around these times.
