Rate of Pay: £27.00- £35.65 per hour
Summary:
The Technical Support Officer is a key member of the Business Support team, providing essential administrative and technical assistance to the entire Planning Services department, including Development Management, Planning Policy, Heritage, Landscape, Tree Teams, and Compliance. The role involves managing the flow of planning applications, maintaining public records, and ensuring high-quality professional service for residents and stakeholders. Depending on experience, the role may scale to higher grades (Scale 5 or 6), involving more complex technical checks, legal requests, and supervisory duties.
Responsibilities:
* Produce officer reports, decision notices, and committee agendas, including PowerPoint presentations for public meetings.
* Carry out basic tasks to support the validation and registration of planning applications, including printing and distributing correspondence.
* Record and process daily payments and refunds, and place internal or external purchase orders.
* Perform comprehensive technical and financial checks as part of the validation process for complex applications.
* Administer the appeals process and manage more complex legal and Freedom of Information requests.
* Produce weekly management reports and formal press notices.
Qualification:
* Evidence of completed education and training relevant to administrative duties is essential.
* A broad understanding of Government guidance related to Planning Compliance, Trees, and Heritage is desirable.
Essentials:
* Must be capable of delivering administrative, clerical, or technical support in a professional environment.
* Experience working in a frontline service interacting directly with the public is highly desirable.
* Ability to use IT software packages effectively to record and manage data across various activities.
* The ability to understand technical drawings and plans sufficiently to carry out registration duties is desirable.
