Where I'd work: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we're moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in Summer 2026, so you'll be based there in the future, with a hybrid working arrangement in place, a mix of office and home working.
Work type: Temporary role for 12 x months. Working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.

Our role as internal communicators is more important than ever before. We have an ambitious 10-year strategy, and the Internal Communications Team plays a big part in bringing it to life for our team of 5,500 colleagues (and growing).
As an Internal Communications Advisor, you'll work closely with the Internal Communications Lead to plan, deliver, and evaluate communications for key areas of the business. You'll dive into all aspects of internal communications and engagement, from advising on critical company projects and programmes of work to overseeing behaviour change and awareness campaigns, engaging with suppliers and partners, organising engagement events, flexing your creative muscles in content creation, and more. You'll act as a strategic advisor to leaders and teams across the business to ensure colleagues hear the right message, at the right time, and in the right way to achieve our objectives. And, you'll ensure that our look, feel and tone of voice is present across everything we do.
Some of the key role responsibilities include the following –
• Develop internal communications strategies and plans for key projects and initiatives to inform and engage colleagues
• Craft compelling stories that bring Yorkshire Water's 10-year strategy and behaviours to life
• Act as a strategic advisor to colleagues across the business – from leaders to frontline teams – building relationships, offering guidance, and influencing to ensure internal communications land with impact
• Identify opportunities to tailor and segment communications to make our messaging relevant and resonate with our diverse audiences
• Support the planning and delivery of major engagement activities and events
• Champion colleague-centric content, putting our people at the heart of our communications to drive engagement and build trust
• Evaluate communications activity, drawing on data and insight to highlight successes, address gaps, and make recommendations to improve
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a proven background within an internal communications environment and previous experience of managing and developing internal communications plans, strategies, processes and activities. They'd also have experience in managing strategic and tactical communications and engagement for change programmes that help businesses thrive.
You will be able to pro-actively drive and create content that colleagues want to engage with. A skilled story-teller you will be able to deliver complex business messages in a creative and compelling way. You will be able to understand audience needs, motivations, environment and perspectives and be knowledgeable in regards new digital trends to adapt and deploy to our communications effectively. Also ensuring our story connects everything we do and that our look, feel and tone of voice is present across the business for colleagues is really important to us.
You'll be a proactive person with excellent communication skills, you will be able to build up effective working relationships with a range of colleagues and positively influence at all levels within the business. Previous experience of presenting, influencing and engaging a wide range of audiences is key, be that from our frontline to our most senior leaders.
You will have strong organisational skills able to prioritise, organise and plan work and have good project management skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver high quality work against challenging timescales. Additionally, we pride ourselves on adapting to what works best for our colleagues, so experience of understanding and measuring success is critical in improving what we do as a function.
