Join our Complex Litigation Team as a Paralegal with a focus on Litigation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cases involving road traffic accident (RTA) claims up to £,, as well as Fatality, Bankruptcy, and Capacity claims. These cases require excellent client care, technical skills, and sensitivity.
This is an exciting, fee-earning position where you’ll have the autonomy to manage your own portfolio of Part litigated RTA claims. You’ll dive into cases that present complex factual or legal challenges, guiding them from the initial letter of claim, through the intricacies of dropping out from the OIC/MOJ portal (whether due to complexity or value), all the way to issuing under Part or making applications to transfer files from Part to Part. From around the six-month mark to limitation and up to trial, you’ll be instrumental in steering each case towards a successful outcome for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Independently manage a varied caseload of Part litigated RTA claims, including both liability-admitted and denied cases
2. Draft and serve legal documents such as court pleadings, witness statements, applications, and schedules of loss
3. Investigate liability and maximise client outcomes by thoroughly exploring all injury types and financial losses
4. Collaborate closely with the Serious Injuries Team, working towards high-value settlements and transferring or concluding complex claims with expert guidance
5. Engage in ongoing professional development through mentoring, buddying, and shadowing on major Multi-Track cases
6. Champion excellent client care, ensuring every aspect of the client journey is handled with sensitivity and professionalism
7. Contribute to cross-departmental communication to drive positive outcomes and knowledge sharing within the firm
8. Always act in your client's best interests by proactively seeking positive results
9. Deliver exceptional client care and ensure all injuries and losses are fully maximised
10. Work closely with the Serious Injuries Team (SIT) and Complex Department, building claims towards substantial settlements (over £,)
Your caseload will be varied - ranging from liability-admitted to denied cases, often with substantial value at stake. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to tackle complex files while continually honing your technical expertise and litigation skills on higher-value matters.
Experience
11. Case Handling experience of running a Personal Injury claim and being able to review medical reports and value claims using JC Guidelines and case law is essential
12. Previous experience of running Part Litigation cases is preferred, but not essential
13. Experience of running a Fast Track claim to trial is sought after, but not essential
14. Client care skills are essential
Employment structure
The role is based at our head office in Cardiff City Centre, with a work week. Following our Smart Working model, you'll split time between home and office, with team office days each Monday. New starters complete three months of in-office training, including induction and buddying.
You will have clear targets and are expected to join marketing events and support other handlers through mentoring, workshops, and training.
