Nursery Chef
We’re cooking up something special – and we need you to prepare healthy, nutritious meals for little ones across Stafford, Staffordshire, Leek, Crewe, Congleton, Stoke on Trent and surrounding areas.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am to 4 pm; no weekends.
Salary: £17 – £20 per hour.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Creating fresh, yummy meals and snacks for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
* Cooking with care – catering for allergies and dietary needs.
* Keeping the kitchen sparkling clean and fully stocked.
* Working in partnership with nursery staff to support children’s well‑being.
* Preparing lunch, snack and teatime services.
* Managing catered dietary requirements and communicating them to team members.
* Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness on site.
* Adhering to all health and safety requirements, completing relevant temperature paperwork.
* Putting away deliveries.
* Assisting with pot washing and other kitchen duties, mainly in smaller sites.
* Preparing fun snacks and baking sessions with children.
You'll Be Perfect If You
* Have experience in a kitchen (nursery or school setting is a bonus).
* Hold a Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
* Are organised, creative, and enjoy working around children.
* Can transform vegetables into appealing meals.
* Have recent chef/cook experience within the last 2 years in a DBS‑controlled or children’s environment.
* Can accommodate flexible shift patterns, including weekends if required.
* Have experience in the education sector, cooking for schools, primary or secondary and nurseries.
* Exhibit strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Possess a Level 2 Health and Safety Certificate (training provided if not).
* Hold food allergen certificates.
* Be passionate about food and able to work under pressure.
* Have a full UK driving licence with own vehicle access where needed.
* Hold a current Enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months (we can provide one at cost).

Working Hours
All of our nurseries offer Monday to Friday day shifts, starting between 7/8 am and finishing 2/3 pm. Extra weekend shifts are available to boost hours or pay.
The Commute
We cover many locations across Stafford and Staffordshire, so your commute will vary. If you have a car and are flexible with sites, great. If you rely on public transport, we will assign you to sites with transport links and provide detailed travel information.
