Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Completed Accredited BSc in Biomedical Sciences
2. Registration with the HCPC
3. IBMS specialist portfolio
Desirable criteria
4. MSc. or IBMS Higher specialist diploma
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Demonstrable experience of working in Clinical Biochemistry
6. Minimum of 2 years post registration experience
7. Experience of working in an UKAS ISO 15189 laboratory
8. Experience of working shifts over a 24/7 period
Desirable criteria
9. Experience in equipment validation and implementation
Technical Skills
Essential criteria
10. Good interpretive skills at bench level
11. Good attention to detail and accuracy
12. Knowledge of common IT software
13. Handling biological specimens
14. Able to plan workload for self and other members of staff
Desirable criteria
15. Familiarity with Quality Management Software
16. Familiarity with Winpath software
Knowledge
Essential criteria
17. Good understanding of Clinical Biochemistry
18. Willing and able to learn new skills
19. Currently participating in CPD
Desirable criteria
20. Ability to train more junior staff to work in accordance to SOP’s
21. Understanding of UKAS requirements
