JOB DESCRIPTION: RETAIL MANAGER
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Increase sales and customer base for the shop.
* Manage the daily operations of the shop efficiently, including staff, time, finances, and waste.
* Set an example for staff through your conduct and work ethic.
CUSTOMERS
* Provide excellent customer service by being responsive, friendly, and helpful.
* Empathize with customers and offer service that exceeds expectations.
* Handle customer complaints professionally and seek guidance from your Area Manager or Head Office when needed.
* Work towards KPIs, increasing footfall and sales targets.
STAFF
* Train, mentor, and lead your team—encouraging, coaching, delegating, and disciplining appropriately.
* Address staff issues professionally, consulting HR or your Area Manager as necessary.
* Ensure fair staff rotation and equitable workload among Retail Assistants.
MONEY
* Handle cash, banking, and financial transactions accurately.
* Maintain security of money, keys, and premises.
PRODUCTS
* Oversee stock ordering, understanding product sales and quantities needed.
* Control waste and manage stock levels, ensuring proper use of ingredients and supplies.
* Provide feedback on product quality, appearance, and freshness to the office.
* Ensure attractive displays in collaboration with your Area Manager and Head Office.
* Manage stock rotation to prevent selling stale or expired goods.
* Maintain product freshness in all storage areas.
ADMIN AND PROCEDURES
* Complete all administrative tasks such as stock ordering and paperwork accurately and on schedule.
* Ensure daily paperwork and digital compliance are completed, with spot checks for accuracy.
HYGIENE
* Keep shop and kitchen areas clean, tidy, and hygienic.
* Perform regular cleaning routines, including daily and deep cleans.
* Follow Safer Food Better Business and EHO guidelines, maintaining all relevant documentation.
COMMUNICATION
* Share feedback with your team and the office, both positive and negative.
* Identify potential problems early and escalate to your Area Manager and Head Office. Avoid carrying work worries home.
· Suggest ideas for new product lines and promotional activities.
