Hybrid working as standard: 2 days a week in the office, the other 3 days remote (or office if you prefer)
This role will suit a Product Designer who is confident leading projects end-to-end, mentoring others, and helping shape how design is done at Goodlord.
As part of a team of 3 Product Designers, you’ll work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to solve complex problems and create simple, elegant experiences for our users. You’ll also play a key role in elevating the quality of design across the team and the wider business.
Our mission:
* Two in five people in the UK rent their homes. Our mission? To provide them with the best renting experience in the world
* We started Goodlord because we wanted to make renting simple and transparent for everyone involved: the agent, the landlord, and the tenant. We knew Generation Rent would lead to more tenants, with higher digital expectations and we were confident we could provide a solution
* Like all scale-ups it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster journey, but we’re now stronger than ever, with around 3,000 letting agents using the platform, exciting and varied products and 320 Goodlordians across the group supporting the mission!
The day to day:
* Working closely with Product Managers to understand the challenge the user is facing and the qualities of a good solution.
* Planning and conducting user research (interviews, workshops, etc.) to inform your design thinking - ideally this involved in person visits to our users
* Creating both high and low fidelity designs that are user-centres and visually excellent, to share with engineers for implementation.
* Reviewing new features to ensure they meet the required design standards before release.
* Proactively identifying opportunities to improve our platform through frequent UX audits.
* Reviewing new features to ensure they meet the required design standards before release.
* Mentoring and coaching junior designers (and junior members of the wider tech team)and supporting hiring, onboarding, and design process improvements
What we need from you:
* A rich portfolio of work demonstrating extensive end-to-end experience designing web based applications.
* Excellent visual design skills, combining typography, color, space & hierarchy to create aesthetically pleasing designs.
* Fluency in web design best practices and know when/why to employ existing patterns vs going custom.
* Obsession with UCD - experiencing conducting user research, facilitating workshops and analysing behavioural data to get to the heart of their problem.
* Proficiency with industry design tools such as Figma (what we use), Sketch, Photoshop or Illustrator.
* Outstanding communication skills, you are able to explain the 'why' behind your design decisions as well as give and receive constructive feedback.
* Experience coaching and mentoring, which you find rewarding and see it as an essential part of your role!
