Nutritionist - Central Weight Management - Part time
Working as a Nutritionist on ABLs specialist and targeted weight management programmes for ABLs central online weight management service you will be working with adults and/or families to support, motivate and advise those who are currently overweight or obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will deliver ABL Healths adult and family weight management programme, including nutrition, behaviour change, and physical activity support, through both group and one-to-one sessions in community settings and via digital platforms such as Zoom or phone. Youll lead multidisciplinary assessments alongside ABLs GP and Psychotherapist to develop person-centred care plans and deliver evidence-based interventions aligned with ABL Healths curriculum. The role involves using motivational interviewing and positive psychology techniques, monitoring client progress, and supporting referrals for bariatric surgery in line with NICE guidelines. You will contribute to social media content, develop curriculum materials, and deliver specialist pathways including Low Carb, Healthy Fats, and Time-Restricted Eating, as well as pharmacological weight management groups like Orlistat and Saxenda. Additional duties include facilitating webinars, ensuring accurate record-keeping, supporting training for staff and volunteers, and participating in MDT meetings and clinical supervision. A strong understanding of ABL policies, ongoing CPD, and the ability to manage your workload and travel flexibly across the project area are essential. This role also supports promotional activities and plays a key part in service development and quality improvement within a clinical governance framework.

Job responsibilities
You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including Specialist Healthy Lifestyle Advisors, nutritionists, dietitians, GPs, psychotherapists and exercise specialists to deliver evidence based, holistic and realistic weight management to people in the community.
You will understand challenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults from varying communities across the UK.
You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.

Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver ABL Healths adult/family weight management programme including nutrition, behaviour change and exercise delivery to groups and though one-to-ones, in the community and through digital methods such as zoom/phone appointments.
Lead on the delivery of multi-disciplinary assessments working closely with ABLs GP and Psychotherapist to determine an appropriate, person-centred care plan.
Deliver evidence-based education around nutrition, physical activity and behavioural change as advised by ABL Health team and in line with ABL Health programme curriculums.
Deliver programmes with a client centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
Monitor clients progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft excel, identifying specific treatment for those not on track to achieve their goals.
Assess and support eligible clients in your caseload to receive a referral to tier 4 for bariatric surgery, remaining up to date with NICE guidance at all times.
Work with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in session materials.
Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
Contribute to and support ABL Healths social media pages.
Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers.
Working with individuals and groups using SMART goal setting.
Contribute to the development of and deliver on special nutrition pathways such as Low Carb, Healthy Fats and Time Restricted Eating.
Deliver pharmacological weight management specific groups such as Orlistat and Saxenda.
Develop and deliver live webinars relating to key nutrition trends and topics.
Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
Undertake and complete all mandatory and additional skills training as required.
Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events, where required.
Develop curriculum resources to be signed off by the service development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience
* Registered as an associate or full member of the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (AFN)
* Language skills in commonly spoken community languages such as Urdu, Punjabi, Polish or Ukrainian
* REPS qualified Level 3 award of GP/Exercise Referral or equivalent (willingness to be trained within 4 months of starting)
Experience
* Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one specialist weight management interventions
* Experience of delivering digital health improvement initiatives
* Experience of planning and delivering appropriate health interventions specific to individual requirements
* Experience working with hard to reach groups and tackling health inequalities
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people
* Experience of delivering on pharmacotherapy and / or special diet interventions
