Consultant in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery
The Liverpool Vascular & Endovascular Service (LiVES) is looking for a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular surgeon to join their growing team that delivers services across the region.
The successful applicant will be based at Aintree University Hospital, one of the Trust's key sites, and will become an integral member of the Vascular Surgery department. The department is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, and the post holder will play an active role in the ongoing development of clinical services, education, research, and service improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
* Providing patient-centred vascular surgery care at Aintree University Hospital and network spoke sites.
* Participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and governance structures.
* Delivering elective surgery sessions, on-call duties and contributing to the C1 and C2 rota.
* Leading local and national audit and quality improvement projects.
* Teaching and supervising Foundation and core trainees, providing clinical skills training to medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
* Contributing to research activities and publishing findings.
* Maintaining clinical standards and adhering to GMC Good Medical Practice guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Membership or Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (UK) or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register for Vascular Surgery, or eligibility within six months of interview.
* Completion of the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and interdisciplinary specialty examination or equivalent.
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in surgery.
* Experience supervising Foundation and core trainees.
* Teaching of clinical skills to medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
* Audit management experience and evidence of research application.
* Specialist experience in Vascular & Endovascular surgery (A&I) and major trauma centre exposure.
Teaching & Training
* Experience teaching medical, nursing and allied health professionals, including PGCE or evidence of education delivery.
* Train the Trainer qualification and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Knowledge
* High clinical standard for independent consultant practice.
* Understanding of GMC's Good Medical Practice guidelines.
Audit & QI Experience
* Understanding of clinical audit principles and proven audit experience with publication of results.
Research Experience
* Understanding of research principles and involvement with publications.

* Demonstrates responsibility, decision-making and authority application.
