Consultant Psychiatrist – East Assessment & Treatment Service
Full Time – 10 sessions | Permanent | Brighton
An opportunity to join a well-established community mental health service delivering specialist care across Brighton & Hove.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the East Assessment and Treatment Service (ATS), part of the Brighton & Hove Community Mental Health teams.
You will join a friendly, collaborative and highly experienced multidisciplinary team, working within a service that provides specialist assessment and treatment for adults with complex mental health needs.
About the role
As Consultant Psychiatrist within East ATS, you will provide clinical leadership and specialist psychiatric care to people receiving community mental health services in Brighton.
The team operates through geographically aligned clusters working closely with local GP practices, helping to strengthen relationships with primary care and ensure coordinated support for patients.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing specialist psychiatric assessments and evidence-based treatment
* Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders
* Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments where required
* Providing clinical supervision to higher specialty trainees and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team
* Liaising with inpatient services, forensic teams and drug and alcohol services
* Supporting collaborative working with primary care and partner agencies
You will be part of a large multidisciplinary service including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and support staff, as well as a strong network of local third sector organisations.

About you
You will be a Consultant Psychiatrist with GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within six months).
You will demonstrate:
* Strong clinical expertise in community mental health care
* Ability to manage complex clinical presentations
* Commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary working
* Experience supporting training, supervision and service development
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
Approved Clinician status and Section 12 approval (or ability to achieve within three months) are required.
