Role Description
* To assume key responsibility for evaluating, recommending, implementing, and managing the network and communication mechanisms to ensure efficient communication within the Princes Group and with business partners, with guidance from and providing feedback to the Head of IT Service Delivery.
* To assist in setting key IT strategies in conjunction with the Head of IT Service Delivery and Senior Management.
* To manage escalated incidents from the Business Systems Support team, analyzing problems and formulating practical resolutions to ensure IT service security and availability.
* To ensure that all elements of the IT communications infrastructure are managed to comply with Princes’ IT General Controls.
* To facilitate knowledge sharing among support teams.
Dimensions
The Communications Architect is responsible for delivering the network infrastructure used daily by all employees and IT services within the organization. The role covers:
* Global users
* Head office at Royal Liver Building
* 14 UK sites, including manufacturing sites, warehouses, and a data center
* 3 European sites and Mauritius manufacturing sites
* Servers and other infrastructure
Internal contacts include staff at all levels, from junior staff to Chief Executives. External contacts involve technology partners for equipment, services, and support, including contract negotiations and strategy development.
Principal Responsibilities
* Develop and manage efficient communication mechanisms internal and external to the business.
* Evaluate, transition, and manage relationships with communication partners.
* Manage communication contracts and billing.
* Oversee network security in collaboration with the Security Architect and Head of IT Service Delivery.
* Manage communication projects to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
* Provide capacity and usage reports to the Head of IT Service Delivery for resource planning.
* Stay updated on emerging communication technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
* Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
* Prepare incident reports, including root cause analysis and preventative measures.
* Manage changes according to Princes’ change management policies.
* Support and administer the network and communication environment to ensure continuous application access.
* Keep documentation up to date for support purposes.
* Assist in troubleshooting areas of the IT Core Infrastructure, particularly internal firewalls and network segmentation.
Role Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Experience with Aruba LAN technologies, network access control, SD-WAN, wireless LAN, telephony, and mobile device management.
* Deep knowledge of supplier management, secure networking principles, remote access, and Internet technologies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server networking, DNS, DHCP, Fortinet Firewall, VMware ESX networking.
* Understanding of billing practices, business continuity, disaster recovery, and ability to produce support reports.
* Excellent problem-solving, project management, communication skills, and knowledge of ITIL principles.
