Maintenance EngineerI'm delighted to be recruiting for my Huddersfield based Client for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, hands-on engineer with strong mechanical maintenance skills to work within a busy manufacturing/production environment.The ideal candidate will be apprentice trained and possess strong all-round engineering skills including fitting, turning, milling, and welding, with a minimum of five years' experience in a maintenance engineering environment.Key ResponsibilitiesReport directly to the Maintenance ManagerCarry out both planned preventative and reactive maintenance activitiesWork collaboratively with colleagues to prioritise maintenance resources effectivelyAssist with major breakdowns and minimise plant downtimeProvide daily shift reportsMaintain cleanliness of plant machinery and surrounding work areasPerform testing and inspection of mechanical systems in accordance with industry standardsImplement mechanical maintenance and corrective works in line with maintenance instructions and site proceduresUndertake defect surveys on plant and systems and provide reports to engineering managementSupport other departments within the business when requiredCarry out additional reasonable duties as requested by managementSkills & Experience RequiredApprentice trained with strong mechanical engineering backgroundExperience within a manufacturing or production environmentStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skillsSafe and proactive approach to all work activitiesGood communication and interpersonal skillsARC/MMA welding experienceGood understanding of pumps and ancillary equipmentFlexible approach to working hours and responsibilitiesDesirable ExperienceExperience or knowledge of any of the following would be advantageous:Overhead traversing gantry cranesCompressorsRefrigeration plantLow pressure air blowersGas-fired combustion equipmentForklift trucks (diesel & electric)Pumps, valves and associated systemsElectro-chemical process plantElectrical maintenance knowledge18th Edition qualification (preferred but not essential)Although the role is mechanically biased, suitably experienced electricians will also be considered.Personal AttributesHands-on approach to maintenance and repair workMulti-skilled engineer with willingness to undertake further trainingFlexible and reliable due to the 24-hour nature of plant operationsWorking HoursMonday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pmFriday: 8:00am – 3:30pmSaturday work as requiredCall-outs when neededSalary£13.50 – £16.50 per hour, depending on experience.TPBN1_UKTJ
