Reporting to the Site Director, as a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Head of Engineering is responsible for leading the strategic and operational direction of all engineering activities across the site. You will be responsible for driving innovation in manufacturing excellence, product development, and equipment maintenance leading a multi-disciplined team of engineers focused on manufacturing, designing and developing new electronic products, components and technologies to meet business objectives, customer and market demands. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of advanced manufacturing process strategies across all product lines to ensure optimal overall equipment effectiveness. The Head of Engineering ensures that all products and manufacturing operations meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and compliance, while driving operational efficiency, aligned with the latest technological advancements in electronics manufacturing, including cleanroom operations. You will prioritise health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards, and provide strong leadership; inspiring & motivating to achieve operational excellence, aligning with the TT behaviours. Duties, Responsibilities and Key Tasks include Process, Vendor & Equipment Management: Overseeing the design, development, validation and deployment of manufacturing processes, as well as the selection, installation, optimisation and maintenance of all equipment. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all manufacturing processes comply with AS9100, and other relevant aerospace standards. Technology Integration: Evaluating and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies such as Industry 4.0, robotics, and AI-driven quality control. Team Leadership: Managing and mentoring a high performing team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all processes meet IPC standards, ISO certifications, and customer-specific quality requirements. Actively engaging with Safety Observation Reporting (SOR). Lean Manufacturing: Driving continuous improvement programmes to optimise yield, cycle time, uptime, and cost per unit. Strategic Oversight: Managing the introduction of new products into production, ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, quality compliance, and business alignment. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with all departments to ensure seamless product transitions from design to manufacturing, maintaining high equipment availability and performance. Tracking and Reporting: Implementing and reporting on performance and process KPIs to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Skills and Experience Required Leadership and Management: Demonstrable, solid experience in regulated manufacturing environments. Strong leadership skills, motivating and engaging a large team, and implementing performance metrics. Business Acumen: Understanding the business context and aligning manufacturing strategies with company goals. Analytical Skills and Problem Solving: Ability to analyse performance metrics, identify issues, and drive decisions. Lead Root Cause Analysis and corrective action for recurring operational challenges. Networking: Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration: Working effectively with other departments (e.g., sales, marketing, engineering). Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Resolving conflicts and managing challenging situations. Adaptability and Resilience: Able to adapt to changing conditions.
