About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead Waste and Street Cleansing services across Nottingham, with a particular focus on supporting the delivery and implementation of the new Bulky Waste collection service. This role will manage frontline teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure high-performing, customer-focused service delivery across your locality and citywide initiatives. You will play a key role in coordinating operations, improving productivity, and driving service standards across cleansing and waste functions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Relevant management or professional qualification, or equivalent experience in Waste, Cleansing, or Public Realm services.
2. Experience of managing large, diverse frontline teams and delivering high-quality operational services within waste, cleansing, or similar environments.
3. Strong knowledge of Waste and Street Cleansing operations, Health and Safety legislation, and operational service delivery requirements within a public sector or similar setting.
4. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance, drive improvement, and deliver efficient, customer-focused services. Strong communication, problem-solving, and IT skills (including Microsoft 365), alongside the ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing service demands.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, residents, Councillors and stakeholders.
6. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan resources, respond to operational challenges, and manage competing priorities.
7. Experience of managing change, implementing new services or initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across operational teams.
8. Full UK driving licence
