Job Description
We’re working with a highly regarded accountancy firm in Banbury that’s looking to welcome a new Rural Accounting Manager into their specialist rural team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a passion for farming, land, and rural clients to step into a role that offers real variety, autonomy, and impact.
You’ll be managing a well-established portfolio of agricultural and property clients, delivering a mix of compliance, planning and advisory services, and working closely with the leadership team to develop junior staff. If you enjoy building long-term relationships, solving problems, and adding value to clients beyond the numbers, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll be doing:
* Managing a portfolio of rural clients and delivering a broad range of accounting and tax services
* Acting as a key point of contact for day-to-day client queries
* Reviewing accounts and tax returns prepared by junior team members (across both incorporated and unincorporated entities)
* Spotting tax planning and business advisory opportunities, and supporting partners with more complex work
* Mentoring, coaching and appraising junior team members to help them progress
* Assisting with the wider management of the Agriculture & Property department, including resource planning and project delivery
* Keeping work on track and within budget, from WIP through to billing
* Ensuring deadlines are met for year-end accounts, tax returns, P11Ds and more
What we’re looking for:
* ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or qualified by experience)
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice, with a strong grounding in both accounts and tax
* Ideally some prior exposure to agricultural or property clients, but this isn’t essential
* Experience reviewing work, supporting juniors and liaising directly with clients
* Someone who thrives on variety, takes initiative, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
Benefits include:
* 28 days holiday for managers (plus Bank Holidays), with the option to buy or sell additional days
* Private medical cover from day one (with options to add family cover at reduced cost)
* Medical cash plan for everyday health expenses
* Enhanced pension contributions (5% employer contribution for managers)
* Death in service cover (3x salary) from day one
* Enhanced maternity package and return-to-work support
* Flexible working with hybrid options and no strict dress code
* Regular socials, firm-wide away days, and charity fundraising events
* Voluntary benefits including cycle to work scheme, electric car scheme, employee assistance plan, and an online perks portal
If you're looking for a role where you can combine your technical skills with a genuine interest in rural affairs, and work with a personable, experienced team who value quality and relationships, we’d love to hear from you! Contact Danielle Daymond at AJ Chambers for more information.
