Our client – a well‑established building services contractor with over 40 years of success – is expanding their team and looking for a talented Mechanical Estimator to support their continued growth. You will be required to travel to sites in London.
🔧 Key Skills Required:
* Strong mechanical engineering background with understanding of wider M & E disciplines
* Excellent communication skills across all levels (internal and external)
* High‑level organisational and time management abilities
* Energetic, proactive, and self‑motivated
* Demonstrated ability to estimate and secure projects up to £5M
* Minimum 5 years' experience in HVAC‑led project environments
* Confident working both independently and within a team setting
📋 Core Responsibilities:
* Strictly apply the requirements of the ABSL Projects “Bid No Bid” protocols, escalating to management any queries.
* Prepare all required project related estimates by reviewing/gathering contract detail, drawings, specifications and any other related documents, including on site attendance.
* Manage all estimate deadlines in a priority and organised method.
* Evaluate and highlight any operational and commercial risk before agreeing to proceed, following the requirements of the bid / no bid process.
* Using Ametch identify and detail, in a transparent and modular method, all labour, material, specialist and time requirements offering the most compliant scope and cost, whilst achieving desired Margins per job.
* Offer variant or valued engineering bids as and when required.
* Create depth to our Sub Contractor and Supply chain, by challenging the current base and introducing skilled alternatives.
* Enhance our current costing database to be more uniformed and applicable to size/type of works in a “packaged” manner.
* At inception of any accepted Project ensure the company Project “Handover and Mobilisation checklist” is completed to the required standard.
* During handover detail any possible opportunities for contract variations or specific contract risk items are identified to the Project Management.
* Be client facing when required and attend tender interviews and presentations.
* Support with all Health and Safety issues.
