Responsibilities
* Conduct initial health assessments for new inmates to establish their health needs.
* Provide care for acute and chronic medical conditions, including administering medications and treatments with precision.
* Deliver emergency care as required, including resuscitation and first aid to those in urgent need.
* Perform minor procedures, such as wound care and phlebotomy, ensuring optimum patient care.
* Work collaboratively with mental health professionals to support inmates experiencing mental health challenges.
* Recognise and respond to signs of self-harm, substance misuse, or suicidal ideation with empathy and professionalism.
* Educate inmates on health and well-being topics, including smoking cessation, nutrition, and disease prevention.
* Support rehabilitation by encouraging healthy lifestyle changes with the goal of improving overall inmate health.
* Work closely with prison staff, GPs, and external healthcare providers to ensure seamless healthcare delivery.
* Ensure accurate and confidential record-keeping in line with professional and legal standards.
* Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to comprehensive care plans.
* Adhere to all prison and healthcare policies, including safeguarding protocols and infection control standards.
