We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a growing data team, reporting directly to the Head of Data Engineering. This is an opportunity to build and own data products and platform capabilities that have a direct impact on business outcomes, while enjoying the freedom to innovate, experiment, and shape the future direction of the data platform.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have end-to-end ownership of the solutions you build. The team manages its own infrastructure, providing the autonomy to design, implement, and optimise scalable data systems. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about modern data engineering practices, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and wants to influence how data platforms evolve within a fast-paced Tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, manage, and continuously improve the data infrastructure that supports business and analytics teams.
* Develop, maintain, and optimise data pipelines that ingest data from internal systems and external sources, transforming, standardising, enriching, and making data accessible for consumers across the organisation.
* Design and implement data security controls to ensure appropriate access management, governance, and compliance.
* Ensure data products meet defined quality standards, reliability targets, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
* Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation's data platform, tooling, and engineering best practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Strong experience with Snowflake and data modelling for analytical and transactional data systems.
* Experience managing cloud infrastructure, networking, and security within AWS environments using Terraform.
* Deep understanding of workflow orchestration platforms such as Airflow or Dagster.
* Strong Python development skills with experience building scalable data systems.
* Experience working with API technologies and frameworks, including FastAPI, Pydantic, or similar tools.
* Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub Actions.
Desirable
* Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka.
* Knowledge of modern data transformation frameworks such as DBT or SQLMesh.
* Experience implementing data governance solutions, including data quality, metadata management, or data cataloguing tools.
* Exposure to semantic or metrics-layer technologies and self-service analytics platforms.
* Experience integrating data platforms with business intelligence and data visualisation tools.
