This Senior Software Engineer role is for one of the teams working on Redgate Monitor, our flagship monitoring solution. Redgate Monitor helps organisations proactively monitor, diagnose, and optimise their database environments. You’ll contribute to the evolution of a mature, high-impact product and influence architectural decisions, improve system performance, and deliver features that benefit thousands of customers worldwide.
You will demonstrate breadth and depth of technical expertise, solve complex problems with clean, simple solutions, lead and contribute to large projects, and act as a technical influencer. You will champion best practices and drive improvements in processes, tooling, and architecture across the engineering organisation. A key part of the senior role is elevating others through mentoring, coaching, teaching, and sharing knowledge through conversations, documentation, and talks. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and psychological safety.
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and test world-class software with a focus on scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
* Provide guidance to the team when facing complex technical challenges.
* Write well-tested code and maintain high standards for code quality, system design, and testing.
* Participate in reviews of your own and other developers’ code and provide actionable feedback.
* Collaborate with the team to ensure the product is of high quality.
* Work closely with user experience specialists to design, implement, and improve the product’s user experience.
* Ensure solid technical documentation and API specifications support the product.
* Identify tools and techniques to improve software engineering and share them with the team and beyond.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders and foster a positive environment.
* Understand how the product or systems solve customer problems and prioritise engineering work accordingly.
* Take ownership of significant projects from start to finish, delivering tangible business value through planning and execution.
* Engage with users to understand product usage and bring customer empathy into engineering decisions.
Essential
* You’re an expert in modern .NET/C#.
* You can design and build scalable, resilient, and secure systems with thoughtful trade-offs.
* You prioritize simplicity and maintainability in code and products.
* You practice unit testing, perform code reviews, and communicate to ensure quality.
* You are an excellent communicator with good attention to detail.
* You thrive in a highly collaborative team and build strong relationships.
* You are flexible and willing to work on all parts of the product and learn new technologies as needed.
* You have superb software design skills.
* You have experience in an agile development environment.
* You are enthusiastic about engaging with customers to create a great product.
* You are driven by continuous improvement and foster a growth mindset within the team.
Desirable
* You have experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
* You have experience developing applications using React.
* You have experience with Agile, Lean, and/or Continuous Delivery practices (CI, TDD, BDD, Infrastructure as Code, etc.).
